Progress, Dust & A Lot of Heart

These old walls have stories to tell, and one by one, we’re helping them tell them again. Here’s what’s been keeping us busy, dusty, and genuinely inspired lately.

Work has been in full swing -and we’re thrilled to share that Building One has passed inspection for both electrical and plumbing. Walls are being sanded and painted, bringing freshness and warmth back to spaces that have been waiting patiently. Floors are being polished to shine and welcome each step that comes in. And the doors-those beautiful, character-filled doors - are getting some well-deserved TLC.

The roof work is moving along. We’ve received the hardware we needed to take that next step, frames are up, and lines are coming in and out. It’s the kind of progress that doesn’t always photograph beautifully, but means everything for what’s coming.

One of our favorite developments? Brick being exposed to the light again. There’s something about seeing the original bones of a building breathe that makes all the dust worth it. And yes - there is plenty of dust.

Perhaps most importantly, we’re proud to share that our plans have been approved by the city. It’s been a process that required patience, persistence, and a whole lot of paperwork - but we got there. That wouldn’t have been possible without the right support. We want to take a moment to sincerely thank the city for their support and patience throughout this process. Restoration projects like this one don’t happen in a straight line. We are grateful.

We’ll continue sharing updates as things progress - the good, the dusty, and the beautiful. Thank you for following along and cheering us on. The Vogelsang Buildings are coming back to life, and they can’t wait to welcome you.

Still Moving Forward — One Step at a Time

Six months ago, the Vogelsang Buildings were forever changed by fire. Since then, the days have been filled with dust, plans, patience, and hope. Progress doesn’t always move as quickly as we wish, but it is happening—thoughtfully and with deep respect for the history held within these walls.

Two of the buildings now stand protected once again with new roofs. The third has asked a little more of us. The wood used over a century ago simply isn’t made the same today, so custom materials are being crafted to honor the original character. We’re now waiting on those final pieces to complete the roof and take the next step forward.

This place has always been more than brick and wood—it’s a gathering place, a memory holder, and part of the heartbeat of this community. Your encouragement, patience, and continued support mean more to us than we can put into words.

Please stay tuned for updates, and if you find yourself nearby, stop in and say hello. One of us is usually there, keeping watch and dreaming of the day we welcome you all back home.

Our Journey Back - Thank You for Your Support!

It’s been five months since the fire, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has reached out with encouraging words.

We are coming back! While we’d love to welcome everyone at once, we’ll be reopening in stages. Right now, we’re hard at work preparing the Ol’ Railroad Cafe -it’s almost ready. Just behind them, Flowers by Tiffany is getting ready to bloom, and soon after, BR Vino will be back to delight us with refreshing sips.

We’re making sure everything is done safely and by the rules, so we can continue to offer you the experiences you love. If you’re nearby, feel free to drive by the Vogelsang Buildings - chances are, one of us will be there to say hi!

Thank you again for your continued support. We can’t wait to see you soon.

The Vogelsang Buildings Fire – Our Gratitude and Next Steps

As many of you know, a fire recently impacted the historic Vogelsang Buildings. While we are deeply saddened by the damage to these cherished landmarks, we are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt.

We are currently working closely with insurance providers and historic preservation agencies to assess the damage and begin the careful process of restoration. Our commitment is to honor the legacy of these buildings while looking ahead to their future.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders whose swift actions helped prevent further devastation, and to the community for the outpouring of support. Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us.

These buildings have stood through generations, and they’ll stand again—not just as a symbol of the past, but of our resilience moving forward.
